Food Delivery Industry is growing at an accelerated speed and is expected to reach  US$0.91tn in 2023. But as the industry is expanding, so is the pollution it generates. A study shows that 78% of domestic plastic waste comes from food packaging. 7 million takeaway coffee cups and 38.5 million water bottles are thrown away daily without a thought.
Today, plastic pollution poses the biggest threat to our environment. To address the pollution created by food delivery businesses, our client wished to create a solution that addressed this efficiently and effectively.
Our Client is a German manufacturer of reusable food packing containers. They wanted to build a solution that allowed restaurants and cloud kitchens to loan their reusable food packing containers conveniently.  
The client wanted to eliminate the plastic wastage and carbon footprint created by food packaging. Thus the solution must also provide provision for tracking the movement of containers to avoid loss of inventory leading to wastage.
The increasing awareness among people regarding the havoc plastic pollution is creating on earth has shifted their behavior. Today people actively look for more sustainable products and solutions that can help them reduce their carbon footprint but are unable to do so due to a lack of options. 
The client understood this void and wished to create an application that empowered the food industry and customers to make this transition easily.

Project Case Study with Our Solution

Signity Solution helped the client build an extensive solution that allows users to rent reusable food containers with a few simple clicks on their mobile. The solution comprises a user mobile app, service provider app, runner app, and admin panel.

User Mobile App

The user app is created for consumers who wish to actively participate in reducing their carbon footprint. They can create their account on the app, where they can view all the partner restaurants that are using Rezzeat’s reusable containers. The users can also use the same app for placing orders.The users get a QR and delivery code at the time of registration on the app. Users can scan the QR code at the restaurants when placing takeaway orders or feed the delivery code at the time of checkout while placing online orders on the food ordering app. Like users, each container, too, has a QR code that is scanned every time the box exchanges hands to track the box's movement and location. The app comes with a feature called ‘Your Boxes’ that provides users with information on the total number of containers loaned to them and their return dates. They can also check their order history. The application gives users an overview of the carbon footprint and trash they have helped eliminate by opting for reusable food containers. Once the rent tenure is over, the current box owners can return containers to any of the partner restaurants. The boxes are sent to the washing facility for cleaning before they are redistributed back.

Like users, service providers have to create their accounts to rent reusable containers from the app. The service provider app allows the restaurants to keep track of their inventory by providing real-time information on:

- Total boxes rented

- Boxes sent to customers for food delivery

- Available boxes

- Boxes' return dates.

The restaurant can also create its business profile and start accepting orders through the app.

Runner App

The runner app enables the delivery agent to manage all their deliveries and box pickups in one place. The application is in-built with QR scanners that allow agents to map the boxes with service providers and users by simply scanning their profile QR with containers’ QR codes. The runners can mark the containers damaged while collecting if they see discrepancies.

Admin Panel

Admin panel allows the client to manage the complete logistics and movement of the containers. It provides an overview of the ongoing business activities on a single dashboard. The panel allows the client to set filters in terms of the area of delivery, the number of boxes to be loaned per user, the return period of inventory, etc.
